We, the LA Subway Shakespeare Project, are the only African-American theater company in the country doing what we do - Shakespeare scenes outside Los Angeles’s METRO stations, or in the METRO parking lots, and sometimes on the trains all over the city of Los Angeles and LA County.
Hassan Jamal is a Los Angeles based actor, playwright, poet, and director. As the creator of the LA Subway Shakespeare Project, Hassan shoots and directs short scenes from plays by William Shakespeare in places in Los Angeles where they have never been performed before --
LA Subway Shakespeare Project shoots at various subway locations around the greater Los Angeles Area. We've had multiple successful productions and have had a trememdous time working with all our actors.
